Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the CurioDeck mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account, installing the app, or otherwise using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use CurioDeck.

1. Eligibility and Account Security

You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to register. You are responsible for providing accurate information, safeguarding your credentials, and promptly updating any changes. Notify us at privacy@curiodeck.app if you suspect unauthorized access. We may require identity verification before restoring access.

2. Description of the Service

CurioDeck delivers personalized, swipeable content cards based on the interests and notification preferences you set during onboarding and within settings. The Service includes card recommendations, a saved-library experience, push notifications, and optional web experiences hosted at curiodeck.app. Features may evolve, be removed, or be offered in beta without advance notice.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use CurioDeck only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes. You will not:

• Attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours.
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or harvest content, notifications, or APIs without consent.
• Interfere with the Service, introduce malware, or circumvent security controls.
• Upload or distribute illegal, harmful, or infringing material.
• Use the Service in violation of applicable export, consumer, or privacy laws.

4. Content Rights

CurioDeck aggregates content from trusted third-party sources (including but not limited to Wikipedia, Google Custom Search, NewsAPI, and publisher RSS feeds). Linked articles and media remain the property of their respective owners. We grant you a limited, non-transferable license to view and save cards inside the app for personal reference. Republishing, redistributing, or commercializing this material without permission from the original rights holder is prohibited.

5. Your Data and Submissions

The preferences, saved cards, feedback, and other information you provide help us tailor recommendations, schedule notifications, and sync data across devices. You represent that you have the right to share this information and grant CurioDeck a worldwide, royalty-free license to use it solely to operate and improve the Service. Review our Privacy Policy to learn how we collect, store, and delete data.

6. Notifications and Communications

Push notifications are optional and require device-level permission. By enabling them you authorize us to send reminders at the times you select. You can change your choices in the CurioDeck settings screen or through your operating system controls. Standard data charges from your carrier may apply.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party platforms such as Firebase, Expo, mobile app stores, and the content sources mentioned above. We do not control their terms or availability and are not responsible for outages, policy changes, or inaccuracies they introduce. Links to external articles are provided for convenience; access them at your own risk.

8. Beta Features and Updates

From time to time we may offer experimental capabilities (for example, offline caching, analytics dashboards, or additional card categories). Beta features are provided “as is,” may collect diagnostic information, and can be modified or discontinued without notice. We may automatically update the app to maintain security and compatibility.

9. Fees

CurioDeck is currently offered at no charge. We reserve the right to introduce premium tiers or paid offerings in the future, in which case we will present updated terms before you incur any fees.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from within the app or by contacting support. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if we believe you violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or created risk for other users. Upon termination, your license to use the Service ends, but certain provisions (including Sections 3–14) will survive.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, complete accuracy of aggregated content, or that the Service will meet your expectations.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CurioDeck and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, goodwill, profits, or other intangible losses arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of USD $50 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CurioDeck, its directors, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of your country or jurisdiction of residence, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree that any disputes will be resolved in the courts of your local jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection laws.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect new features, legal requirements, or operational changes. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where required, send additional notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
